Ruzanna Gaboyan is currently a sophomore at Mayfield High School. Ruzanna is originally from Armenia, and she moved to the United States at the age of 14.
She is the Vice President of Equalistic Dream for Hope Club, a youth-led club meant to to highlight the importance of cultural awareness in education and advocate immigrant students for equal educational rights. Being an immigrant student herself, who also went through the struggles of other immigrants in education, she wants to make schools a better place for them by leading and participating in meetings, blog writing, post and video making with the team. Her interests also include playing chess, computer science and astronomy. Through the experience of exploring and living in different cultures, she learned about cultural understanding and respect, and hopes to encourage others to build cultural awareness in their communities too.
